The Vampire Diaries’ Spin-Off The Originals Films in New Orleans
It’s Ramos Gin Fizz and gumbo time! The Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, has begun filming; this week, the cast headed to New Orleans to give the show an authentic flare.
The episode won’t air until April 25, but the actors and crew have been tweeting their excitement. “New Orleans Bound with this babe @MissClaireHolt,” wrote Phoebe Tonkin of her bestie and castmate Claire Holt. The ladies will reprise their roles as Hayley and Rebekah, respectively, on the new supernatural show.
Newcomer Charles Michael Davis, who will play Klaus’s (Joseph Morgan) erstwhile protégé, Marcel, has also taken to Twitter to share photos of the city. Filming for the show began last week in Atlanta, and Joseph gave his new co-star a ringing endorsement, tweeting, “When 'The Originals' pilot hits TVs on April 25th you're all gonna go crazy and hit your follow buttons for this man @CharlesMD. Trust me ;).”
The pilot will take place in New Orleans — both present day and when the Originals first lived there a century ago. Daniel Gillies (Elijah) tells Entertainment Weekly, “It will be about both the contemporary [story] — where we are now and what we are up to — and also will flash back to show what the f**k happened to us to bring us to this moment.”
We can’t wait to see the vampire siblings — and their friends and enemies — take over the Big Easy.
