The Originals Joseph Morgan talks about Revelation short

The Originals Joseph Morgan talks about Revelation movie

Joseph Morgan, Klaus Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and the upcoming The Originals, was interviewed recently on CBS in Atlanta about his 12-minute short film “Revelation” which debuted at The Atlanta Film Festival.

Joseph Morgan is a fan of horror, fantasy, Stephen King, and especially “The Walking Dead“!  His inspiration for writing was sparked when he was 15 and discovered the films of Quentin Tarantino. This  inspired him to write his first screenplay.

After graduating from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, he continued to write and produce as his acting career found its way to “The Vampire Diaries” and now the lead in “The Originals.” “Revelation” is his directorial debut, which is a dark post-apocalyptic story of a woman who loses her grip on reality. Persia White, who was also on “The Vampire Diaries” stars in the short and helped out with writing and editing, but the directoring was all Joseph Morgan!

Synopsis of “Revelation”

A woman trapped in a
post-apocalyptic situation questions her reality. As she secures her house against an unknown terror outside, she reflects upon the darkness that took her husband and changed the world as she knew it. But she is not alone. After barely surviving a brutal encounter that pushes her to her limits, both physically and emotionally, she is forced to leave the safety of her home, and is propelled towards a staggering conclusion that will change her forever.

Many successful directors, some of which may be considered icons, have started with film shorts that eventually propelled them to the big leagues. Case in point is George Lucas, whose student film “THX 1138” eventually led to the “Star Wars” franchise. Maybe “Revelation” will become a feature film!

So will we eventually lose our beloved and sexy vampire Klaus Mikaelson when Joseph Morgan moves on to bigger projects? Hopefully he’ll get the chance to hone his exceptional directorial and writing skills further by writing and directing episodes of “The Originals” which I’m betting will be around for a long time once it joins The CW‘s lineup of shows next season!
