What Would Ian Somerhalder Do If Damon Died on The Vampire Diaries?

We received a fan question a few months back asking if Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will die in The Vampire Diaries Season 4.

Well, while we think the answer is a resounding no way (unless that veil that Bonnie is always going on about gets lifted), but Ian Somerhalder tackled just such a scenario in an interview with E! Online while he was down in Austin, TX for South by Southwest.

Believe it or not, TVD is 85 episodes deep, and Ian joked that he wouldn’t be around much longer. When asked if he ever sees it ending, the actor responded, “At some point someone’s gonna drive a stake through my heart, and I’m gonna desiccate, and then I’m gonna go to the Caribbean for about a month.”

OK, the guy has been working hard for the past four years, but we really can’t see a sunny island adventure in his future. But Ian did say he’s had it especially rough lately, as Elena (Nina Dobrev) has been kicking Damon’s ass. “Now that Elena is a vampire, man, just getting my ass kicked every week,” said Ian. “But it’s kinda fun. If someone’s gonna kick your ass, it might as well be Nina Dobrev.”

Now that we can’t wait to see! See, Ian? This is why you’re not allowed to go anywhere.
